Let me start out by saying that I believe that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I’ve been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from going through a program. My family was not aware of the Counter-dependency available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the right choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Choosing the cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, once the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like so many addicts I started out smoking pot and progressed after that until I had been doing my drug associated with preference daily at the fee for everything and everyone around me. I lost valuable time with my oldest daughter and several years of a meaningful relationship with our kids. During your addiction you don’t have friends, you have your partying buddies and when an emergency pops up in your life they may be no where that can be found. Real friends walk together with you through it all. My addiction included alcohol along with drugs and that i drank almost everyday. As soon as I made the selection to stop the addiction cycle inside my life, it became a stride at the same time and it was hard.
After I began coming out of my addictive lifestyle a few things i present in its wake was lots of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships with no real idea what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I truly began a stride at a time then one day at a time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and through that grieving process occurs when I decided to permit God in to help me to. It took several years but healing came, direction for my entire life came and my marriage flourished. I completed High School, graduated from College and have started my own, personal business, which now incorporates a business that enables me to work from your home by way of a blogging platform.
Addiction Recovery Can Be Done. Once the root cause of the addiction is identified and worked through after that your primary reason to your addiction is no longer a factor. For most who remain addicts throughout their lives this is due to they have not identified their root cause, are certainly not prepared to get through their issues and enable healing to take place. Many want to remain a victim with their circumstance, not realizing what the future would hold on their behalf if they would let go of their victim mentality. Creating a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is through that relationship that true healing occurred.
My wish for drugs and alcohol is entirely gone. Through constructing a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and i also discovered feelings of purpose for my life. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to become better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has developed into a business owner). My way to recovery could have taken a much different route whenever we had known concerning the programs around to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not just in the addicts but to there families also.
Addiction Recovery and Programs. Although I ultimately gained freedom from my addictions a treatment program for addiction recovery could have been an excellent benefit to me. Programs offer support systems, counseling, aide in identifying your triggers. Programs offer tools which you can use throughout your daily life for several situations that you simply will face. Programs also offer you the opportunity to get out of your familiar surroundings which aides within your process of recovery. After a long period of addiction recovery I began vxktfb for Teen Challenge which is a faith-based addiction recovery program:.
First as a Development Director then as being a Program Director. While this is an excellent program there was some additional steps i wanted to offer those seeking help, so my husband and i also opened our own recovery program and for a few years we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived with us for approximately a year and we dealt with them step by step, it absolutely was one of the most rewarding experience We have had inside my life.
We closed this program because we knew it was time to move in a different direction with the lives, but we have been always contacting those looking for help themselves or a relative trying to find help for just one that they love. I am just getting ready to start doing some volunteer employ a program within our area. Working to help addicts overcome their addiction is very rewarding work in fact it is something which I will take part in for the remainder of my entire life in one way or another. Should you or someone within your family members are suffering from addiction, research recovery programs and you may find the correct fit for you personally. Allow yourselves to heal, allow yourself addiction recovery and to lead a fulfilling life.
