The Ministry of Education, Sırbistan üniversiteleri is mainly responsible for the training system of Serbia. The Ministry administers the preschool, primary, secondary and higher education system in Serbia. Also, it encourages scientific and technological research.
The universities are independent advanced schooling institutions in Serbia that provide many study programmes in any way levels of study. Universities in Serbia carry out educational, artistic, technical and scientific work. Lots of the study programmes in the universities in Serbia are provided by the faculties which can be portion of the university.
Faculties: These institutions are part of the universities in Serbia. Academies of Arts: These are generally area of the universities in Serbia and offer courses within the artistic discipline. The faculty and academy of arts act as per the statutes from the university. The faculty and academy of the arts provide academic also professional study programmes. These institutions execute scientific research, artistic and professional activities in a number of fields.
Basic academic studies: This study go on for 3 to 4 years. To achieve admittance into the basic academic studies, students will need to have completed 4-year secondary education. ECTS: 180-240 credits. At the conclusion of bachelor degree programme, students must defend their final thesis. The last thesis might or might not be required; it all depends on the curriculum from the specific course.

An overseas citizen may go into the study programme under the same conditions as a local citizen. An international citizen pays school fees through the school, unless a worldwide agreement or perhaps a bilateral agreement in between the universities determined otherwise.
An overseas citizen may enroll at the faculty if he/she gives an evidence of competence within the Serbian language in accordance to the University Statute or the competence in the language of instruction and if he or she has a health insurance. A candidate – an overseas applicant for the studies, together with the application form must submit a nostrificated diploma of finished senior high school that will last for four years and a evidence of citizenship.
The greater education system in Serbia offers 2 kinds of studies: academic studies realized at universities, and applied studies realized primarily at colleges of applied studies, and occasionally at universities as well.
In the area of medical science (studies of medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine), integrated courses are organized in the length of 6 years and carrying at least 360 ECTS. Pharmacy studies also offer integrated courses that carry 300 ECTS. Higher education in Serbia is supplied by/at universities and colleges which can be either public or private.
An Academy of Applied Studies has additionally been envisaged from the AW, but no such institution has become founded yet. There are 2 options concerning students’ fees. “Budget-financed“ students have their own tuition fees paid by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, but they have to pay administrative along with other costs (entrance and application fees when enrolling in a higher education institution, fees for issuing diploma and diploma supplement, obligatory payments for exams (in certain cases applicable only to self-financing students), issuing certificates – of student’s status, of passed exams etc.).
Serbia started the reform of their higher education system by joining the Bologna Process in 2003, then the adoption in the new Law on Advanced Schooling in 2005. This law formally introduced the European Credit Transfer System, three-cycle system of study and diploma supplement. Because of this, from the school year 2007/8, all newly admitted students have studied beneath the reformed study programmes at all advanced schooling institutions. The reform process was continued by the adoption in the standards for accreditation, self-evaluation and external quality control in 2006, which set conditions for the start of the process of accreditation ldlecz advanced schooling institutions and study programmes in 2007.
According to the Law on Higher Education, every study programme is defined through the number of ECTS. Each course within the study programme is valued through the number of ECTS whilst the total amount of ECTS varies from no less than 180 for three year programmes to a minimum of 240 ECTS for 4 year programmes at the bachelor level, at least 60 to 120 ECTS (for one or two year programmes respectively) at the master level and at least 180 ECTS in the PhD level.
Strategy for the Development of Education in Serbia until 2020, adopted in 2012, is also a significant document trying to identify purposes, goals, directions, instruments and mechanisms for the development of the education system in the Republic of Serbia until 2020. In other words, the Strategy is designed to shape the creation of this technique in the ideal way.
